Why You Shouldn’t Waste Money on Expensive Real Estate Investing Courses: Tips for New Investors

Apr 25, 2023 | Calgary Real Estate Investing Blog

As seasoned real estate investors and realtors, we’d like to share a word of caution to all the newer investors out there. It can be tempting to sign up for expensive courses and seminars promising to teach you the secrets of real estate investing, but we want to caution you against this!

First and foremost, there is no magic formula or secret to real estate investing. You don’t get rich quick, but you do get rich for sure. It requires hard work, dedication, and a willingness to learn from both successes and failures. With so many free books, youtube videos, podcasts, and blogs, there is no need to spend thousands of dollars on a course. Many of these courses can charge as much as $10,000 to upwards of $25,000 per year, which is wild! Especially if you are just starting out and saving up your downpayment, paying $10K for a course will only set you back further before you can even jump into the game!

Instead of spending your hard-earned money on an expensive course, we recommend that you focus on building a strong foundation of knowledge by reading books, watching youtube videos, attending our local investor meetups and networking with other investors. We are happy to share some fantastic free resources if you are just starting out.

In conclusion, while it can be tempting to believe that an expensive course is the key to success in real estate investing, the truth is that it is not necessary in most situations, especially if you are just starting out. Focus on building your knowledge and experience through practical, real-world experience and the wisdom of those who have gone before you. Cheers.
